Luxembourg job less total falls

Recent figures point to a significant fall in the numbers of unemployed in the Grand Duchy since the start of the year. The Jobs Minister, Nicolas Schmit only last week revealed the latest figures released by the Economic Committee.

First of all in the February the overall level of unemployment fell to 6.3% as opposed to 6.5% of the population being without jobs in Luxembourg in January. That was the best monthly performance since May last year and a real surprise to the HR and recruitment industry in the Grand Duchy.

Overall it will have to be seen whether this upward trend can continue as the economic consequences of soaring oil prices and the Japanese disaster loom large in all minds.

Two recent individuals to be recruited by the Luxembourg finance sector are Jean Marie Bettinger and Christopher Ponticello. Jean has been recruited by The Directors Office.
The MD of Reyls Family Office in Luxembourg since 2008 and CEO since 2009 he has 15 years experience in the financial industry. Likewise Christopher has been recruited by private equity funds specialist IPES as a client director and to also run their accountancy team. Christopher has spent the previous four years working for Caceis.
